Social Work

Understanding the services offered for our families in the community is vital in order for them to have the resources they need to succeed.

The Home-School Connection

The Social Work Department at Summit School works within an interdisciplinary team framework to consult with school staff and act as a liaison between the family, the school and the community.

The department provides information, referral and support to families when needed. This includes individual counselling for students and parents, TEVA (La transition de l'école vers la vie active) planning, and resource information and referral to external services. During the course of the academic year, the Social Work Department hosts various workshops, sibling and grandparent days and student support groups.

The department follows a whole systems approach to help ensure that both the student and their families are well supported both at school and in the community.
