Job Training

At Summit School, we offer students enrolled in our post secondary programs a wide variey of vocational training experiences. Depending on their individual abilities, students are encouraged to particpate in "work experience" through volunteering , and internal and external work stages.These experiences help students create an connection between the school and community.

Within the school, students help;
  • Run a recycling program (paper, plastic, metal, glass, composting)
  • The Cafe/Luncheonette which offers meals to staff and students
  • The growth and sale of herbs and seeds
  • Clerical duties which include lamination and binding
  • Run a full copy centre
  • Manage school supplies
Students also have the opportunity to participate in work experiences outside of the school. Participation in the program provides potential employers with the power to make a positive change in a student's life while proactively helping the community and promoting diversity in a truly tangible way.

The success of our program is due in part to our commitment to creating conditions that foster enriching experiences for students and the business community. Over 50 companies have provided work-study opportunities or full-time employment to Summit School students since the program began over 25 years ago.
